Integrated Modeling of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions to Support Shifting to a Low Carbon Economy
We explore the greenhouse gas emission reductions necessary to achieve long-term local, regional, national, and global climate goals, such as holding the Paris Agreement warming thresholds below 1.5°C and 2°C warming relative to pre-industrial levels. By analysing emissions scenarios from energy-economic models as well as associated time- and pathway-dependent mitigation costs and technology portfolios with coupled carbon-cycle/climate models, Climalogik employs a combined science and practice lens to help Indigenous Peoples, municipalities, provincial, territorial, and federal governments take ambitious action in support of meeting or exceeding Canada’s 2030 target of a 30 percent reduction below 2005 levels of greenhouse gas emissions and to enable sustainable economic growth.
The Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change was developed with the provinces and territories and in consultation with Indigenous peoples – to meet emissions reduction targets, grow the economy, and build resilience to a changing climate. The plan includes a pan-Canadian approach to pricing carbon pollution, and measures to achieve reductions across all sectors of the economy. It aims to drive innovation and growth by increasing technology development and adoption to ensure Canadian businesses are competitive in the global low-carbon economy. It also includes actions to advance climate change adaptation and build resilience to climate impacts across the country.
Our experienced multi‐disciplinary team combines technical climate science, economic policy, sustainable development, and strategic insights to bring our clients unparalleled value to meet their clean growth and emission reduction targets as detailed in municipal, provincial, or territorial climate action plans and/or The Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.
